You can sit, unwind, and watch the wildlife with a distant view of Bald Knob Cross. The cabin sits in the heart of Shawnee National Forrest and the Southern IL wine trail. You can enjoy the fire pit while watching the stars, with no distractions from neighbors, traffic, or lights. You can enjoy catch & release fishing from the bank

This roomy, quiet home is rural, at the city limit with nearly a half acre of yard at your disposal. 2000 sq. ft. home, 3 bedrooms, futon/bed and 2 full baths, & laundry room with lots of parking. 5 min. to the Lake of Egypt, & centrally located to the Shawnee Forest, Giant City State Park, & only 20 min. to the bike trail & Ferne Clyffe State Park. Perfect for fishing, hunting, hiking or just enjoying the view. Great for work crews with room to park a utility trailer. 16 miles from SIU.

Shady Rest “on blue pond” with hot tub

The tranquil sound of the water fountain sets the mood for Shady Rest. (removed during winter) Unwind in the therapeutic hot tub. (open all year long) Watch the 12 ft. windmill twirl as it catches the wind. Resident ducks will provide fun entertainment. End the day with a night fire around the fire pit. Our property has multiple rental buildings, but there is plenty of parking space for anyone traveling with a pickup and trailer.

Our coffee bar also offers a variety of mugs, so each person can pick their favorite. We had your comfort in mind when we selected new queen mattresses, soft bedding, and plush towels. The couch and extra seating are very comfy. For our likeminded germaphobe friends, we chose light bedding to ensure utmost cleanliness.
