Cooks Beach is made famous because Captain James Cook sailed on the HMS Endeavour into Mercury Bay in 1769 and anchored at Cooks Beach off Purangi.

The house is naturally sheltered from the predominant westerly wind meaning you can make the most of the outdoor space. The beach is only a 5 minute walk away and the stream provides safe swimming areas for children.

Located at the Purangi river end of beautiful Cooks Beach our refurbished unit is ideally located for rest and relaxation. Or if you prefer a more active break we provide a double kayak, (including life jackets) and paddle boards, and can suggest beautiful areas for walking. The property backs onto a reserve with space for parking so please enquire if you would like to bring your boat. Safe swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding are within view and only a 2 minute walk away.

The Lookout

The Lookout is a stand alone guest cabin located on an elevated private 10 acre property just 5 minutes drive to Cooks Beach. Situated next to regenerating bush, it offers views through to Mercury Bay Winery, the Purangi Estuary & beyond to Mercury Bay itself. Entirely self contained, The Lookout is lined with warm natural timbers and has a comfortable queen size bed. It also has a private deck area perfect for morning coffees, BBQs, stargazing and bird watching.

The best views in New Zealand! Our super comfortable architecturally designed home has 180degree views of Mercury Bay. You have full privacy and access to your own spacious room, bathroom and private balcony just for your use. We provide coffee, tea, milk, cookies, cereal and a mini-fridge for your use. Please note there is no access to kitchen facilities (but we have fabulous local restaurants we can recommend!). Easy parking to Cathedral Cove on our road!

Admiral Waters - Waterfront Accommodation UNIT 2

ADMIRAL WATERS - Waterfront accommodation is situated on the Purangi Estuary at Cooks Beach. This new purpose built unit is one of two and provides private luxury accommodation, and is perfect for a great getaway for a weekend or longer. They are nestled amongst new homes in a new subdivision overlooking the boat ramp on the Purangi Estuary and a few minutes walk from the main Cooks Beach and a short drive to famous Cathedral Cove and Hot Water Beach.

Coromandel Sanctuary

Situated on the crest of the Coromandel ranges on the 309 road. Mahakirau Forest Estate comprises almost 600 ha of native forest. Each site is convenated by QEII National Trust who describe Mahakirau "outstanding for it's ecology and wildlife value with brown kiwi, kaka, Hochsetetter's and Archey's frogs all present". A spacious house in a bush setting, sit back and relax, take a bush walk down to the stream on the property and star gaze at night.

Cooks Beach Studio Escape

A little update for our lovely guests. This studio, as shown in the main photos, is available for stays until 30 April. In May we’ll be closing briefly while we create a beautiful new, larger 30sqm studio in its place. From 1 June, guests will enjoy the brand new space, thoughtfully designed and finished to the same high standard and relaxed coastal style you know and love.
