Ce vei face

At the wigwam trail head you'll be introduced to the indigenous theme of the trail and the history of how the boardwalk came to be there and how it was built. Once on the walk you’ll meander through a balsam fir forest into a cedar swamp where you'll learn about the ecology of the trees and about the medicinal plants used by local indigenous people. You will awaken to the spiritual quality of the forest leaving you with a sense of tranquility and a keen awareness of your surroundings.
Once out in the open wetland the view is amazing. As we walk we will point out the wild orchids, insect-eating and medicinal plants and share their secrets. There will be plenty of time to photograph these extraordinary plants. Since you must stay on the boardwalk we can teach you how take good photographs without damaging the sensitive environment or plants. You will be amazed at the unique beauty of this area!
At the end of the trail there are ample benches at the octagon where we will rest and interweave the theme of the trail with everything we have observed. We will share the knowledge of these concepts, linking the conservation message of the ecological reserve to the theme.
Other things to note
Tours go rain or shine. We cancel only if there is lightning, heavy rain, high wind or weather warnings.
The trail and boardwalk are wheelchair, walker and stroller accessible. There are also accessible washrooms, picnic tables and handicap parking.
Dogs are not allowed on the trail and boardwalk.

Unde vei fi

The trail is adjacent to an Ecological Reserve which is a protected area. We will visit the four nodes along the trail that talk about the four concepts of the theme. Other stops include a balsam fir forest, a glacial erratic, a cedar grove in a swamp, and the fen. The chemical make-up of the water is what makes this wetland so diverse and unique with over 23 rare plants, 28 wild orchids, and 8 carnivorous plants.
