Ce vei face
Oaxaca is a city rich in history, culture and architecture. We will understand the different architectural styles that shaped the city, while getting first hand facts and explanations of how people lived and how they live now.
Starting our tour at the public park “El Llano”, we'll see its french inspired architecture and landscaping, flanked by 8 lion sculptures and a statue of “Benito Juárez” with prehispanic motifs. On our next stop at the “Conzatti” Park we will observe the influence the functionalism movement had in Oaxaca’s architecture.
We'll observe the defining colonial architecture and we will discover how people lived in the XVI and XVII century. Then, we'll admire the gold plated decorations and handmade plaster vaults at the dominican order church of “Santo Domingo”.
On our way we will find the art noveau and art decó buildings hidden at plain sight in the city.
Then, we will observe a successful contemporary architectural intervention at the “San Pablo” ex-convent and see the prehispanic foundations conserved at the site.
We will continue to the city’s heart, where we'll see the barrocan style Cathedral and the bustled with life arcades and kiosk at the “Zócalo”.
Finally, at the beautiful church of “La Soledad”, we'll eat some delicious ice cream called “Nieves” to refresh ourselves and finish the tour.

I was born and raised in Oaxaca. My grandfather was an architect and shared his love for the city and its buildings with me; following his steps I studied architecture in Oaxaca and have been practicing architecture professionally for 5 years. I know the city by heart and have given personal tours with a particular focus on the history of its architecture.
