This workshop is designed to be a crash course in natural dyeing. We’ll spend the afternoon learning to process flowers, leaves, roots and bark into natural dyes along with introductory fabric dying techniques. Students will leave with dye samples, lots of notes, and their own hand dyed silk scarf made in class. No experience necessary. Beginners welcome!

I am an artist, and educator based in Joshua Tree, CA. I specialize in textiles, aromatics, and glass and am passionate about teaching hands-on skills and creating holistic learning experiences. I have taught students of all ages, backgrounds and abilities including undergraduate and graduate students, Nike teams, teens, children, and adults with disabilities. I taught at the Oregon College of Art and Craft in Portland, OR for 8 years and served as the Chair of the OCAC Fibers Department from 2013-2018.

We will spend the day working at my home studio in Yucca Valley. My studio is located 14 miles north of Joshua Tree National Park and 30 miles north of Palm Springs.
