Cooks Beach is made famous because Captain James Cook sailed on the HMS Endeavour into Mercury Bay in 1769 and anchored at Cooks Beach off Purangi.

Located at the Purangi river end of beautiful Cooks Beach our refurbished unit is ideally located for rest and relaxation. Or if you prefer a more active break we provide a double kayak, (including life jackets) and paddle boards, and can suggest beautiful areas for walking. The property backs onto a reserve with space for parking so please enquire if you would like to bring your boat. Safe swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding are within view and only a 2 minute walk away.

The Lookout is a stand alone guest cabin located on an elevated private 10 acre property just 5 minutes drive to Cooks Beach. Situated next to regenerating bush, it offers views through to Mercury Bay Winery, the Purangi Estuary & beyond to Mercury Bay itself. Entirely self contained, The Lookout is lined with warm natural timbers and has a comfortable queen size bed. Cooks Beach Studio Escape

In May we’ll be closing briefly while we create a beautiful new, larger 30sqm studio in its place. From 1 June, guests will enjoy the brand new space, thoughtfully designed and finished to the same high standard and relaxed coastal style you know and love. All overlooking green farmland and occasionally a few noisy bulls. I am sorry but this unit is not suitable for children or infants.
