Where are we? We are located in Rusinga Island, which is a small island in lake Victoria but connected to the mainland by a bridge. Mbita is the nearest town on the mainland and 8 km away from the homestead. The lake is always in sight and only a 5 minute walk away. On the island you will find mainly small farms with the families living either in the traditional mud huts or more modern brick houses. Several small villages are spread around the island, Kolunga Beach being the closest.

Opija House is a new construction, two-bedroom home with ensuite bathrooms and designed with stylistic elements reflecting the owners' Southern California lifestyle. There is an island kitchen which opens up to a large sitting room with a big screen tv. The home has wifi, veranda seating, a peakaboo lake view and lake access with a short walk.
