In the water! Two story boathouse. Originally built in 1939 and parked boats in until 1972. Converted to living space in the early eighties. The upstairs consist of a bedroom walk in closet and a balcony. The downstairs is a living room, kitchen and bathroom. Walk out the door to the patio , dock , and beach! You won't find anything closer to the water! The balcony is the perfect place to watch the sunset, thunderstorms, or sip your morning coffee. Watch the fish out the window!

The Appleton Retreat is a short scenic drive to Belfast, Camden, Rockport and Rockland. Braeburn at The Appleton Retreat is down a 1/2 mile driveway, on 120 acres of private land, bordered by a 1,300 acre Nature Conservancy reserve. A 1/2 hour walk on a wooded trail leads to a large secluded pond. Braeburn feels like a treehouse, with expansive windows, overlooking woods and wildlife. This brand new loft above our barn is cozy with all you need for a perfect vacation. You can relax with your morning coffee above the trees. It has an indoor toilet, sink and breakfast bar and outdoor shower. We’re a semi-retired couple and love to share our 62 acres property with stream and meadow. There are quite a few stairs to the loft.

Each cabin sleeps 4 people, with a queen sized bedroom and a 2 twin sleeping loft, accessed by a ship's ladder. A screened-in porch is the perfect place to sit and listen to our resident loons. Conveniently located on rte 2 it is 15 mins to Sunday River, Mt. Abram, and the village of Bethel. An easy drive to explore the White Mountains and Grafton Notch. The property was originally part of a potato field, offering wide open space and seasonal view of the Androscoggin River. Bald eagles have been observed on the river and flying above the field. Just past the main house, the guest cabin makes a sunny comfy home base to discover western Maine.
