Typical single apt of Hanoian living in 1970s with legendary peacock blanket/quilt. About fourty years ago, if any family had a peacock blanket/quilt, it would be classified as well-off. Everyone tried to save money to buy themselves a peacock blanket and consider it a valuable asset, carefully stored until the winter day. Subsidy period is the name used in Vietnam to refer to a period in which most economic activities are paid for by the State. This apartment was built during this time.
