An Lochta is a converted , two story, 19th century grain store, surrounded by a mature and carefully tended garden on a small farm, set in the idyllic rustic peace and quiet of rural Co Meath. Despite our seclusion, we are just 10 minutes from the M1 motorway, 1 hour from Dublin and within easy reach of the major historical sites of Meath, Louth, Cavan and Monaghan. (Unfortunately the layout of the building renders it unsuitable for wheelchair users).

Peacock House

The Peacock House is located within the Lismore Demesne. It was once the dairy and workers cottage. From the 1980s onwards it was used to house peacocks, giving the cottage its name. After being left dormant for 80 years it was lovingly restored three years ago. These days it is a bright and cozy cottage offering tranquil views of mature trees and park land. There is private access to forest walks along the Doney Stream just outside the doorstep.

You will need a car if staying at Clontrain cottage , located 50 mins drive from Dublin airport , 5 mins drive to Cabra Castle , 5 min drive to Carrickmacross where there are many ammenities / supermarkets like Aldi ,Lidl ,Supervalu .5 min drive to Kingscourt where you will find many great bars / takeways and also the incredibly beautiful Dun A Ri forest park needs to explored to be appreciated.
