The Nissen

The Nissen is a spacious, light filled two bedroom holiday house overlooking the historic town of Castlemaine, aptly named for its resemblance to a World War II Nissen Hut. The Grove studio is a fully self contained space separated from our private onsite residence. Set in the majestic rolling granite hills of Harcourt North our views will captivate you, from amazing sunsets to star filled skies. A perfectly positioned location between Bendigo, Castlemaine and Maldon, your base to explore the attractions Central Victoria has to offer, including great local wineries & artisan goods. Our area is home to an abundance of nature, from kangaroos to echidnas to wombats.

A beautiful, historic stone cottage in the heart of the gold fields. simply modernised to maintain an old world ambience and eclectically furnished with family heirloom furniture and special interest collections. It's the way we like it and I'm sure our guests will too. Come for a relaxing weekend, winter or summer, enjoying the surrounding nature and wildlife. Fully equipped small kitchen, central bathroom, lovely large old rambling garden with enclosing wire fences. Kids and dogs welcome.

Guests can expect to be greeted by our inquisitive array of farm pets, including highland cows, sheep & chooks.

It's a totally separate and private space, air conditioned, double glazed and with its own off-street parking and access. It is within walking distance to the town centre, The Mill Complex, The Bridge Hotel and the Botanic Gardens; and just a 7 min walk up the hill from the railway station. Enjoy fabulous views to the east from the lounge, bedroom and your private balcony across the town to Leanganook.

STONE EDGE is a beautiful & tranquil property set in a lovely garden located in a prime position close to the Botanical Gardens, "The Mill" & Castlemaine Town. The property consists of a main cottage & two beautiful sandstone cottages "North" & "South". These two can be let out separately or together. Both cottages have super comfy king size beds & each is unique in character.
