We're a Dutch couple whose lodge is nestled in the mountains of Madarao in Japan. Our lodge provides capacity for a max of 20 guests divided over 5 units. Our cozy, comfortable space makes for a great base to explore the mountains around the region. During winter, we offer private ski/snowboarding lessons, and side and backcountry guiding. We cater to guests during all other seasons too and offer fine dining experiences during your stay. We aim to create the perfect vacation experience for you!

Heidi Apartment

Heidi is an apartment-style room connected to the egg-shaped main lodge, perfect for families or groups. With high ceilings and a spacious living area, it can host up to 8 guests. White wood walls and warm sunlight create a relaxing space. The large loft has two double beds and is accessible by two staircases. The kitchen and large dining table make it ideal for meals or small parties. Two entrances—one from outside and one from the main lodge—make moving around easy. Dog-friendly (optional).

Japan Alpine Guesthouse, hotspring, & music space.

Cozy alpine guesthouse cabins with in-house natural hotspring baths in the forested highlands of Japan's epic 3000m Nagano Alps, offering the closest possible accommodation to the "Roof of Japan" - the Alpine Route and Takase hiking treks. Hakuba ski resorts start 15 minutes away. We also have a compact music studio in the main lodge with guitars, bass, keyboard and electronic drum kit - suitable for a small group of musicians with space for 3 to 4 players and 6 to 8 intimate audience seats.

The best things about Alpha Lodge are its wonderful & welcoming atmosphere and easy going country hospitality. The close proximity to the lifts & the Madarao Kogan Hotel and its amazingly relaxing Onsen (hot spring bath), is just an easy 200m walk and the views are amazing. Alpha Lodge was built around 40 years ago so you would expect that it is a bit tired in appearance but we are transforming bit by bit.
