Hello, my name is Jackie, I am a retired Marks & Spencer worker, married to a retired company Director. We have three children who are all married and have blessed us with six lovely Grandchildren, they all live in Folkestone and we see them pretty much daily. We bought our sea view apartment close by to us in Folkestone as we have a 3 bedroomed holiday lodge in the Tamar Valley, Cornwall but wanted to have a more local ‘hands on’ approach as we enjoy hospitality. We both like to travel and really appreciate attention to detail, we hope we have accomplished this in our own holiday lets. Guests are important to us and we like to put them first, this is how we like to be treated when we stay away. We are great fans of the Orient Express and have had the privilege and pleasure of dining on it and have stayed overnight in a non travelling carriage which was fantastic. Devine view overlooks the harbour which played host to the train in its hey day and the apartment style is influenced by this. My husband John and I really enjoy good food and we are spoilt for choice in Folkestone, the harbour area, which is only a five minute walk from the apartment, has a good selection of eateries with prices to match a wide range of budgets.
If like us, you like musicals and shows then you will find plenty of entertainment at the Leas Cliff Hall, there are regular events to enjoy from classical music to heavy Rock and all genre’s in between along with comedy nights etc.
We have both lived by the sea all our lives and whilst we thoroughly enjoy travelling to all sorts of places we always look forward to coming home, the call of the sea is in us and to look out at the horizon is just the most magnificent sight! I am a keen reader of novels and it might interest you to know that a number of famous novelists were either born in Folkestone or spent some of their lives here, among them: Charles Dickens wrote little Dorrit in Albion Villas on the Leas, Agatha Christie wrote ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ (originally called ‘Murder in the Calais Coach’) during her stay at the Grand Hotel on the Leas and H G Wells wrote ‘The first man in the moon’ here in the town.
Whether you are looking to visit family, attending an event or taking a well earned break I hope you will find your stay at ‘Devine View’ a very enjoyable and comfortable experience.
