Jetpack Adventures Fly through air and water using the James Bond-inspired Jetpack or Flyboard! Jetpack is the world's first water-powered device that propels you up, up and away! Inspired by James Bond, the Jetpack is a backpack unit that you are strapped to by a five-point safety harness (similar to race cars). Water is propelled from the powered unit, into a twenty-meter hose which is forced into two jet nozzles on the Jetpack and lifts you above the water. The Jetpack Adventures instructors will provide you with training before you get in the water and they can also talk to you through your 007-style Headzone communication helmet during the flight. Or you can just throw on your superhero theme song whilst you fly! You're in control of the action the entire time, using both hand controls to steer left and right as well as up and down - it's that easy. Jetpack Adventures have recently launched the Flyboard as well - so you can choose to try the Jetpack, Flyboard or both! Pilots need to be over sixteen and not afraid of water or getting their face wet. Weight restrictions apply, spectators welcome. Check out the Jetpack Adventures website for more information about the Jetpack experience, videos and to make a booking. http://www.jetpackadventures.com.au/

Echo Point's clifftop viewing platform offers a magical prospect of the area's most essential sight, a rocky trio called the Three Sisters. Warning: the point draws vast, serenity-spoiling tourist gaggles, their idling buses farting fumes into the mountain air – arrive early or late to avoid them. The surrounding parking is charged and congested, so it's not a bad idea to park a few streets back and walk. There's a tourist office here.

This long-time favourite, the Blue Mountains' most touristy attraction, offers spectacular views. Ride the glass-floored Skyway gondola across the gorge and then take the vertiginously steep Scenic Railway, billed as the steepest railway in the world, down the 52-degree incline to the Jamison Valley floor. From here you can wander a 2.5km forest boardwalk (or hike the 12km, six-hour-return track to the Ruined Castle rock formation) before catching a cable car back up the slope.

Allan Grammar This stylish wine bar is the place to meet friends Delicious food, boutique wines, and a great atmosphere. Allan Grammar is located in a quiet laneway off bustling High St in Penrith’s CBD. It might be tucked away off the main street but you definitely know when you’ve arrived; the grand entranceway, complete with potted trees flanking the large door, is the first sign that you’re in for something special. Husband and wife team Sophia and Aaron Bernacki have spent the time to get every detail of their new wine bar just perfect, starting with the name. Allan Grammar is a tribute to Sophia’s fond memories of being homeschooled growing up on Allan Street in Mulgoa and at the same time a subtle dig at those who said she’d never succeed because of it. The interior, which includes crisp white walls set against intimate table settles with mint green velvet chair coverings, is the perfect combination of old-world charm and fresh modern décor. The bar is undoubtedly the centrepiece of the space showcasing the large range of boutique wines on offer along with ales and ciders. The menu is a mix of small plates and larger share plates plus a range of cheese plates and desserts. The focus of the bar is on the wine. Allan Grammar showcases one wine producer each month.

Bringing visitors and locals together, this is an upbeat spot that combines three happy things – craft beer, pizza, and live music – in a very likable space next to the train station. It only does pizzas (plus a couple of salads), but they're delicious, with unusual gourmet toppings. The compact trackside courtyard is great for a summer pint in a good company.

Neighbourhoods

Ropes Crossing was originally part of the suburb of St Marys. The suburb is named as a crossing of Ropes Creek, a watercourse which is approximately 23 kilometres (14 mi) long rising near Devils Back Tunnel and flowing north into South Creek. The creek itself was named for Anthony Rope, a First Fleet convict who it is assumed was granted land fronting the creek.[2] The area was the site of a World War 2 munitions area, now formerly known as Australian Defence Industries or (ADI). The area had its own railway line which was electrified in 1957. When the line first opened on 1 May 1942, it only ran from St Marys to Dunheved at a distance of 50.350 rail kilometres from Central railway station and on 29 June 1942 the line opened from Dunheved to Ropes Creek at 53.010 rail kilometres from Sydney. When electrification was extended on the western line in the late 1950s a new station was built and called Cochrane and was located 52.480 rail kilometres from Sydney. The station opened on 2 September 1957. The line was mainly munitions traffic with morning and afternoon passenger services for munitions workers. Towards the end of the line being open, the only traffic seen on the line was the occasional scrap metal trains that visited Sims Metal which was located off the Up line just south of Dunheved. Working of these trains meant that the trains worked to Dunheved where the locomotive ran around the train and proceeded back to the Sims Metal Siding to shunt loaded cars in and empties out as required.
