Less than 4% of tallgrass prairie remains, as a result this ecosystem is more endangered than tropical rainforests! A boat ramp just 1/2 mile down the road from the A-frame and there easy access for fishing, kayaking and splashing!

Take a drive out to the Konza Prairie Nature Trails and enjoy the joys of the prairie via a hike! There are 3 trail loops to hike (2.6, 4.7, and 6.1 mile trails). Maps and brochures available at the site. This is a research site with numerous experiments in progress. Konza prairie is a 8,600 acre track of native tallgrass prairie and is a preserve of the Nature Conservancy managed by the Division of Biology, K-State University.

A rock garden can also be found near the main staging area which is rated as double black diamond.
