Sightseeing
This is a great little place, a relaxed seaside town, with character, history lovely people, lots of wildlife and truely amazing views. There is a pub/bottlo, supermarket, post office/business centre, chemist, service station and several excellent cafes.
It's very easy to spend a few days here and enjoy the local wines, food, the beach and some great local walks.
Watch out for dolphins - they regularly swim in pods along the Penneshaw coastline.
When you have had enough relaxation you can hire a car in the town centre (try KI Connect) and explore this amazing Island. Remember - drive safely, especially in the towns and places where people walk.

This is an easy local trip and the best place in Australia for fresh oysters (oh yes it is). While there you can also visit Pennington Beach and the lookout - btw, that big fish thing is probably a Southern Right Whale on their annual migration between May and October.

While there you should check out the local sites, such as the Lavender Farm and Shoals Bay. This can be part of a day trip out to Flinders Chase and the remarkable Remarkable Rock.

Watch out for crazy kangaroos
Yes, its true - there are kangaroos and wallabies everywhere, but they have no road sense. In the morning and the afternoon/evening they, and lots of other critters, have a habit of jumping out in front of you, so please drive with care.
Also - lots of distracted visitors, seniors, kids/bikes and dogs on the roads around Penneshaw, especially near the beach and town centre. It's handy to treat local roads as shared spaces.

Booking the Ferry
People arrive on KI by plane or ferry. If you want to come by ferry from Cape Jervis you have two options.
The first is Sealink whch runs car ferries and bus connections between Adelaide, Penneshaw and Kingscote. You can also book KI bus tours through them.

However you choose to travel, remember to book early as it gets busy in the holiday season - especially if you are bringing a car
