It's called "Salt Lake City" because there is more salt in the Great Salt Lake than the entire Pacific Ocean. As such, the Salt Flats, although they're in the middle of nowhere, they make for a stunning view of all white ground and is where they break land speed records. It's about 1 hour 40 minutes from our house.

Very cool natural crater that has a hot spring inside. You can go scuba diving in the super warm, 90-degree water. It's been featured on TV shows like the Bachelor and makes for a fun, warm activity about an hour away from our house.

NOT really a hike, but more like a walkway down to a rock that you have the option of climbing. It's right off the freeway and kind of tricky to get to, but it's just a giant rock covered in graffiti. It'll take 15 minutes to walk down to it and maybe 20 minutes to climb, but it's not too hard. I've done it in flip-flops before. If you decide to go, park your car at 2910 S Cascade Way, Salt Lake City, UT 84109. And then take the walkway that crosses over the freeway and goes down to the rock. To see pictures of it, just google "suicide rock slc". It's about 30 minutes from our house.

This is INCREDIBLY out of the way, and there'll be nobody around, but if you're super hardcore about art, this thing is sort of cool. Someone in the 70s made this giant spiral thing out of rocks and salt that juts out into the Great Salt Lake. Close to tons of museums, theaters, restaurants, temple, etc. Utahns love outdoor malls for some reason, and so this mall has a retractable giant ceiling and heated floors for when it rains and snows.
