This is a great place to try international cuisines at a great price. It’s on Saturdays from 5pm until 12am. They recommend you take public transportation to the venue. Take the 7 train to 111 street and walk four blocks.

This is well outside my Brooklyn neighborhood, but it's not on many visitor's radars, so I think it's worth pointing out. It's a wonderful, weekly food market where you can eat street food from anywhere: Tibet to Taiwan to Portugal to Romania to Greece to Jamaica. It attracts an equally diverse, laid-back crowd. It's quite a trek, but worth it!

When food and entertainment merge in Queens, you get the Queens Night Market! The Queens Night Market is a large, family-friendly open-air night market in Queens, featuring up to 100 independent vendors selling merchandise, art, and food and featuring small-scale cultural performances, all celebrating the rich cultural diversity and heritage of NYC and Queens. Located just outside of the Flushing Meadow Park area, near the NY Hall of Science, this event begins every Spring and continues every Saturday into October (please see their website for dates and to purchase tickets: queensnightmarket.com). This night market is easily accessible via the 7 train to 111th Street.
