This is a fabulous walk. It takes about 40 minutes each way and meanders along the coast. The views are wonderful and the beach at Orokawa Bay is pristine. There are no houses, no roads, no building of any kind just the track, bush and beach and a few people. The knarly old native Pohutakawa Trees that line the beach are probably well over 100 years old.

The beautiful golden sands of Orokawa beach are easily accessed by a lovely walking track from the north end of Waihi Beach (about 2.5km each way, about 30mins walking time depending on your fitness). Because there is no road access you may even have the beach to yourself!

We walked this small trail nearly everyday over summer + the kids love it toooooooo. Safer swimming at Waihi Beach. Head up to the high point above Orokawa if you are feeling super energetic.
