When you visit, long up and remember that this was built in a swamp 1,000 years ago!

Ely Cathedral is an Anglican cathedral in the city of Ely, Cambridgeshire, England. The cathedral has its origins in AD 672 when St Etheldreda built an abbey church. The present building dates back to 1083, and cathedral status was granted it in 1109.

The cathedral has its origins in AD 672, the present building dating to 1083, and cathedral status was granted it in 1109. The cathedral has more than a quarter of a million visitors per year, so I suppose they are not going there because it's just another anglican church... Highly recommended, and with a town on its doorstep, with many lovely little restaurants.
