Cob Cottage

Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

Forest Hideout

Our tiny cabin is located on a 14 acres property in the middle of the woods. You will enjoy complete privacy and use of your own area on the land, including a pond. Located 2 min, from the Transcanada Trail, 20 min. walk to the Kinsol Trestle, a World Heritage Site with beautiful swimming holes right underneath the bridge. 20 min. to next Grocery store and 22-25 min to Duncan. Approx. 50 min- 1 hr to Victoria. Pottery lessons are available by request if you have always wanted to try it out.

Welcome to your private oceanfront getaway Nestled in a (distanced) private area of our property awaits this 40 foot rustic/industrial style converted bus. Take in the ocean view of the Sooke Basin and the mountains of Washington state across the strait of Juan De Fuca. Enjoy a visit from our dog, Argo, who lives on the property and loves our guests. Our rustic little cabin sleeps four comfortably and is nestled in a private, heavily forested two acre property on the edge of a ravine just steps from the Pacific Ocean. It offers privacy and easy access to beaches, surfing and hiking trails. You will love listening to the sound of the waves and the running water in the creek as you nap in the hammock or lay in bed in the cozy loft.

Mid-island, this rustic cabin is perfect for any couple (or small group) shacking up in the woods. Features a full kitchen inside, outhouse, outdoor shower, fire pit, covered porch & access to pebble beach trails, making this a magical retreat. Please note that while there is wi-fi at the cabin, there is no cell reception on the property, and many guests have mentioned that they’ve enjoyed the chance to unplug and connect with nature.

This is a 1969 school bus lovingly converted into a tiny guest house in a whimsical garden space. We are located in a rural residential area near Sooke BC, just off the Galloping Goose Trail. (Km37) Surrounded by stunning beaches, pristine forest and coastal hikes, refreshing lakes and rivers, wildlife and natural beauty galore. A 30 minute drive from Victoria, or approximately 3 hour bike ride if you’re feeling adventurous.
