Gujo Hachiman is known as the “City of Water”, and owner & architect Yuri Fujisawa has lovingly restored this charming residence to embody the spirit of water. Located below the town’s medieval castle, this neighborhood was reserved for high-ranking samurai. While the historical streetscape is well-preserved, it remains an authentic neighborhood inhabited by friendly locals.

The Showa-period property uncovers the layers of Tajimi’s rich ceramic history and is decorated with ceramics from the Jomon period, to tea ceremony ceramics, and contemporary ceramic art. Relax in your own private apartment — enjoy Nakatsugawa’s nature and culture while staying close to everyday conveniences. Our place is ideal for travelers who enjoy a slower pace — strolling through town, discovering small spots, and soaking in daily life. We’re about 25 minutes on foot from the station, in a quiet area with shops and restaurants nearby. Free parking is right in front. Many come to Nakatsugawa for the Nakasendo hike, but there’s beauty in quiet, everyday moments too.

Seikou Udoku Tomida - Satoyama Old Private Villa

This is a traditional Japanese house with a large entrance and white "Noren" curtains. You can rent the entire house out, and it's for up to four people per day. (There are two bedrooms.) There is a private outdoor sauna in the garden. Free high-speed Wi-Fi is available, so you can use it for work space, etc. There is also a library of 5,000 books, and hammocks and personal chairs are also available. You can relax and enjoy reading your favorite books.
