We are located a stones throw from the village where you will find an abundance of amenities pubs. takeaway's and a 5* market hall. We are located less than 10 miles to Carlisle and a short drive to the M6 a gateway to Scotland, the lake district and Northumberland.

The house is located in the village of Banks, 1 mile from Lanercost Priory and 4 miles from the market town of Brampton. It is ideally located for day trips to the beaches of Northumberland, the Scottish Borders or the Lake District National Park.

It makes an excellent base to explore Hadrian's Wall, the North Lakes and the Eden Valley.. or a perfect stop off point on your way to or from Scotland.

A basic and cosy shepherds hut a few minutes walk from the Hadrian’s Wall trail, tucked away on a tiny campsite (Camping at Banks), a no vehicles site where you can enjoy the sounds of nature. The hut has a wood burning stove, bottom sheets and pillows. You can hire sleeping bags from us. There is a compost loo and outside sink but no shower or electricity. The hut is suitable for those arriving by foot or bicycle - there is NO PARKING on the site. Single night stays welcome!

The perfect romantic retreat, Swallows Rest, is a converted 18th century hay barn. Belonging to the 17th century Grade II listed High Greenrigg House, it offers all the modern conveniences whilst retaining the character of such an historic building. The ground floor contains an open plan living room, dining area and fully fitted kitchen. There is a utility room accessed via a low stone doorframe. Talkin village is a lovely location with a great pub. Our cottage is the perfect base to explore Hadrian's wall, the Lake District, Carlisle and the Pennines. We are lucky enough to have the Beautiful Talkin tarn just on our doorstep. The cottage was formerly the village postoffice, it has been fully renovated to high standard and is the perfect place to relax in front of the log burner after a day exploring the local area.
