Beaver Lake Recreation

Beaver Lake is an Army Corps of Engineers lake with 483 miles of shoreline and is lined with limestone bluffs, natural caves and swimming areas galore. It is quiet during the week and busy weekends. There are several seasonal restaurants on the lake that you can drive to or rent a boat at Rocky Branch Marina and boat over. Bike and Kayak rentals are available from Prairie Creek at Beaver Lake Outdoor Center, seasonal also.
For a wonderful step back in history you can visit the mill, close enough for a quick lunch.

Hobbs State Park Visitor Center deserves a visit, or two. It has hiking trails, biking trails, kayak tours, boat tours on Beaver Lake and a wonderful exhibition. Don't miss it!

City/town information

Called the "Little Switzerland" of the Ozarks, Eureka is a gem and well worth a couple of days visit. Besides the winding streets through the Victorian Style mountain town, there are fun shops and wonderful dining to enjoy. The Basin Park Hotel is in "Ripley's Believe it or Not" for reasons you will have to experience. The 1886 Crescent Hotel not only has over 100 years of intriguing history but there is a day spa and restaurant as well. The views from the terrace are beautiful. And E. Fay Jones award winning Thorncrown Chapel is close to town and a jewel. Also, my husband worked his entire career for him.

Bentonville is still a small town with first class venues. Crystal Bridges, the Momentary, first class restaurants, the Razorback Greenway trail system and much more.

The Razorback Greenway Trail was started in Fayetteville by our dear friend, Dan Coody, who was the Mayor at the time. His vision has improved the quality of life tenfold and along with the Walton Foundation and many other wonderful people and organizations has made our area one of the top ten in the United States. I had the honor of working for the award winning Fayetteville Public Library and, even without me, it has gone on to expand and become a treasure for the area. A MUST SEE.
