Smith Canteen - now called Hungry Ghost but basically the same spot - is just up the block and around the corner. Perfect coffee and baked goods. Savory scones are my favorite. Mind your step through the baby strollers out front.

At night sit at the bar and watch how a professional makes a serious cocktail. Excellent ice, for those of us cocktail nerds.
