Isle of Wight (25 mins on ferry from Southampton) Known for its beaches including Ventnor Beach, which is dotted with vintage beach huts. Fossils and dinosaur remains can be seen in many places including Compton Bay and Yaverland Beach. Attractions include The Needles (3 iconic pinnacles of chalk stone that stick up out of the sea that are guarded by a 19th-century lighthouse) Black Gang Chine (a theme park), Osbourne House (residence of Queen Victoria) and The Garlic Farm (everything Garlic, including ice cream!).
