Food scene
Svoura has excellent mezes (small plates), but what makes it a favorite for Lucy and Matt is the rakomelo. Rakomelo is an alcoholic drink made with Raki, honey, and cinnamon, and then warmed up. On cooler evenings, we love heading here and ordering a bottle and sipping on it while eating the carob rusks that Svoura will bring out with them.

Wow. Just Wow. Okay, maybe not Just Wow, as we have more to say. This is Matt's favorite place, it represents everything he loves about Greek food. Fava and grilled sardines are a must have if you've learned how to enjoy them. The only bad thing we can say is that too many people are finding out how great this place is, and you might end up waiting for a table.

Fava and grilled sardines are a must have if you've learned how to enjoy them. The only bad thing we can say is that too many people are finding out how great this place is, and you might end up waiting for a table.

Sightseeing
Everyone knows about Acropolis and the Parthenon. Filopappou Hill (along with the monument at the top) tends to get swept aside from its more famous neighbor. If you are looking to head somewhere a bit off the beaten path, look no further. No entry fees or tickets required, just start hiking up the hill. The paths can be a bit confusing, but so long as your headed up, you'll end up at the top. Along the way, you'll have numerous photo opportunities to capture the Parthenon and the rest of the Athens city in a unique fashion and framing. The view from the top is magnificent, but make sure you bring some water with you, as there is very little shade once you get up there. This hike is also highly recommended by Ellie, Matt and Lucy's dog. 4 paws up.
