Swimming + Day Tour

The Blue Lagoon, Malta, located on the island of Comino, is one of Malta’s not so hidden gems. It is a bucket-list location known for its crystal clear turquoise blue waters and jagged cliffs, and it is a perfect location not only for swimming but also for paddle boarding, snorkeling or just relaxing on a boat nearby. The Blue Lagoon owes its name to its color. Before you take a dip in the waters and find out for yourself how blue these waters are you should stop and admire them from the cliffs on the side of the lagoon. Where do I find these boat tours ? The Blue Lagoon boat trips usually leave from Bugibba Habour Area. In order to get to Bugibba Harbour you can walk from our accommodation to the center of Naxxar ( the Naxxar Parish Church) and take the bus 31. https://goo.gl/maps/ZYWf41sJA9JgXZnn7

Għajn Tuffieħa (Maltese for ‘Apple’s Eye’, also known as Riviera) is located on the north-west coast of Malta, behind a small village called Manikata. Unlike nearby Golden Bay, Għajn Tuffieħa Bay is less accessible but almost looks untouched by man, with natural beauty all around you. The beach itself is smaller than that of Golden Bay, which means during peak season it does get a little busy at times. It’s natural beauty has attracted a number of visitors who are visiting this place time to time again. Soak up the sun on sandy shores or go on a trek up its surrounding hills to enjoy stunning views! You could hike the surrounding areas of Ghajn Tuffieha, take a dip in the sea and also enjoy a picnic whilst the sun sets.

Mellieħa Bay is Malta’s largest, and most popularly visited beach, and is located in the North of the main island, on the outskirts of the village of Mellieħa. The beach is also known as Għadira (pron. a-deerah) Bay roughly 800m long and was awarded Blue Flag status (which is a recognition of quality based on water quality, environmental management, safety and services, among other indicators). The clarity of the water and its shallow gradient make this beach perfect for swimming with the family. During summer months, visitors can rent a sun beds and umbrellas and lifeguards are on duty during summer months. Plenty of facilities are available around the edge of the beach and various water sports (sea kayaking, waterskiing, windsurfing, banana rides – the works) are available. This is a good beach to visit even if you don't go swimming. How to get to Ghadira Bay : Local buses, from Naxxar : 41, 49, 42, 250

All roads in Gozo lead to the capital, ir-Rabat , and, rising above it, the fortified Citadel. Ir-Rabat (Victoria) is not just the geographic centre of Gozo, but also the centre of its commercial, social and cultural life – as well as its history. The town combines the bustle of the market with a relaxed and sociable atmosphere – particularly in the main square, officially called Independence Square but known to all as It-Tokk. Events are always unfolding, with concerts and exhibitions held alongside some less likely attractions including fully-staged Italian opera in the island’s two theatres and the traditional horse racing in the main streets, in summer. If you're interested in a swim there is Ramla Bay, Dwejra Bay, Mgarr ix-Xini, Qbajjar Bay and Xlendi Bay. These are all beautiful beaches to visit, and close by you might also find local fish restaurants. Regardless of your religious beliefs, visit Ta Pinu Sanctuary located just a two-minute drive away from the picturesque Gharb village. From afar, it looks almost as if someone placed a model church in the middle of the field and left it there. The sky-blue Mediterranean sea provides a magical backdrop to this sandstone-built Roman Catholic Basilica. These are the local buses you can take to the ferries: From Valletta – bus nr 41 and 42 From Sliema (via St Julian’s) – bus nr 222 From Buggiba (and St Paul’s) – bus nr 221 From the Airport – bus nr X1 From Gneja – bus nr 101 How Much is the Ferry to Gozo ? - Standard price per car+passenger is €15.70 - Standard passenger fare is €4.65 (€4.05 at night), €1.15 for a bicycle and €8.15 for a motorbike + rider.

Mdina and Rabat are two popular towns in Malta (in the South West of the main island), and each is admired for very different reasons. Mdina is one of Malta’s most popular tourist destinations because there’s no place like it anywhere. Sitting on top of a hill overlooking large parts of Malta, it’s a small town, rich in history and fortified by tall bastion fortifications. It’s filled with centuries-old buildings that have been well maintained throughout the ages. Rabat, the village that’s located on Mdina’s doorstep (and once considered to be its suburb), on the other hand, is known for its quiet, more rural character and natural beauty. Apart from offering a few key museums and points of interest, Rabat is also known for one of the few forested areas the country knows, at Buskett Gardens, the entrance to which can be found on the outskirts of the village. The streets are narrow and winding, and walking along them feels like you’re trying to find your way out of a maze, although really and truly the place is so small it’s hard to get lost. With all the noise of everyday life in the busier parts of Malta, the silence inside the city’s walls is very noticeable and really adds to the magic of the city itself, as well as its panoramic views out over the island. If you're in Mdina you must visit Fontanella Tea Garden. It offers traditional homemade cakes and food.

Valletta, Malta’s capital and a World Heritage site, is nothing short of an open-air museum. It is a living experience of Baroque architecture, a monument donated by the Knights of St John nearly five centuries ago. Throughout the years, Valletta has welcomed emperors, heads of state, artists and poets and is now the permanent seat of the Maltese government. Dotted with quaint cafés and wine bars, the city is today one of Malta’s main tourist attractions, hosting among others, the majestic St John’s Co- Cathedral, the imposing bastions and a treasure of priceless paintings. It also provides a stunning snapshot of Malta’s Grand Harbour, often described as the most beautiful in the Mediterranean. The city’s unique setting nowadays plays host to a series of cultural events, from theatre in English, to concerts by leading opera singers. A hive of business activity during the day, the city switches to a slower gear for the night. Use it to your advantage to get away from the noise and take a stroll to admire the magic of the fortified capital amplified by the gentle lighting. Admire the bastion walls, the dense clusters of worn limestone buildings, the timber balconies, and imposing Churches.
