Extraordinary historic place to hike in or alongside the granite bottom stream within a canyon, with waterfalls, swimming hole & historic bridge. Some trails by water's edge are eroded and require sturdy shoes and balance. Just 15 minutes from over the bridge on the IL side. We take our dogs to swim here. Bring mosquito spray!

Admission is included with the Mark Twain Museum. This building was the actual home of Laura Hawkins, Mark Twain's childhood friend and inspiration for Becky Thatcher in the book “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.”

The historic site is adjacent to Mark Twain State Park on a peninsula at the western end of man-made Mark Twain Lake. The cabin was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969.

The Hermann wine region, a few minutes west of the Weinstrasse region on Highway 100, is home to several other wineries, including Adam Puchta Winery, Hermanhof Winery, Stone Hill Wine Company, Bias Vineyard & Winery and Robller Vineyard. All 11 wineries are located within an hour of each other, making a day tour extremely enjoyable.
