Don’t let the gas station façade full you, Nana’s Kitchen is a great place for Breakfast and Lunch, with delicious biscuits and gravy, and a menu that is kind of what they feel like serving when they feel like serving it.

There is a Food Giant located right in town that is open 7 days a week until 9pm. And as far as small-town grocery stores go, it’s quite good.

City/town information

Linden is a charming southern town with friendly people and beautiful surroundings. With hunting in the winter, fishing in the summer, and music on main street when the weather is nice, Linden is a great place to visit. Five minutes from Bluebird's Bend, it's close enough to hop in your car and quickly grab (most) anything you might need! It also has several shops full of local arts and crafts, and is a great way to spend an hour checking out the shops on Main Street.

Sightseeing

This 1,247-acre area is located on the east banks of the Tennessee River. Tradition has it that Mousetail Landing received its name during the Civil War period when one of the area’s tanning companies caught fire. The exodus of mice fleeing the burning tannery was so profuse that the area in proximity of the park became known as Mousetail Landing. With Mousetail Landing State Park located on the Tennessee River, fishing is a popular activity. Fishing is permitted anywhere you can reach water. Bass, bream, crappie, stripe and catfish can be caught along the banks. Mousetail Landing has primitive campgrounds as well as sites with hookups for overnight guests.

What else is there to say? – it’s kind of the draw of the place. There are numerous put ins and take outs for kayaks and canoes around the area. Below are just a few options in the immediate vicinity, though there are many more within half hours’ drive of the property. Upriver: Put in at Beech’s Bottom: Turn left out of Buffalo Estates on to Old State Hwy 13, take a left on Duncan’s Camp Rd, and the put-in will be about half a mile up on your left. From Beech’s Bottom to the property is about a 30-to-45-minute Kayak, and longer if floating in tubes, etc. Downriver: Old State Hwy 13 Bridge: This is an ideal take out if you are putting in at the property, as it is about a 1 hour to 1.5-hour kayak down river. To get to the takeout, take a right out of Buffalo estate on to Old State Hwy 13, and take it past Veterans Park until you cross the second bridge over the buffalo. There is a small dirt turn off to the right just past the bridge that leads down to a rock beach landing. When kayaking, go past the bridge to the landing for takeout. Downriver: Public Boat Lunch at Gladden Road: This is likely a 2.5-to-3-hour kayak trip down river from the property. To access, turn right out of Buffalo Estates onto Old Hwy 13, then right on Squirrel Holloway Drive/New Hwy 13, then another right on Gladden Road. *To note, the current on the Buffalo River is enough to make kayaking or canoeing back upriver quite strenuous. If you are to take the kayaks and canoes down river, it is recommended that you use two vehicles, and leave a vehicle at your preferred takeout spot versus trying to venture back upriver.

There is a large Amish and Mennonite community located within Perry County, and Cane Creek Market is the perfect place to purchase homemade goods and locally grown produce. Our favorites are anything pickled, fried pies, and the muscadine jam.
