Neighborhoods

Nob Hill is a vibrant district with eclectic shops, swanky dining and chic nightspots. Its Route 66 architecture and neon signs, combined with predominantly locally owned shops, galleries and restaurants, make Nob Hill a hip and fashionable area. My two favorites in this neighborhood are: Two Fools Irish Pub, Tractor Brewing Co.

A very classic downtown neighborhood--plenty of restaurants, bars, breweries and night clubs. On weekend nights (Friday/Saturday), this area gets closed off to vehicle traffic, allowing event goers the ability to walk around freely between venues. Keep that in mind as you're driving around downtown on weekend nights. My favorites in this area are: Sister Bar (a grungy dive bar with occasional live music and dancing, huge selection of drinks, and pinball/arcade machines) and, if you're looking for a wild night, Effex (a dance club with two floors, three dance floors, and four bars).

Sightseeing

If you're not afraid of heights (or even if you are), check out the Sandia Peak Tramway, a 15 minute tram ride that takes you to the top of the 10,385-foot Sandia crest which provides a beautiful overview of Albuquerque and the surrounding areas. Depending on the time of year, it can be up to 20+ degrees colder at the peak, so prepare yourself!
