A visit to the citadel is a must for every visitor to Victoria. It offers beautiful limestone buildings with the classic Maltese dry stone walls, and magnificent panoramic views of the city from the top. Visit the Visitor Center and Archaeological Museum and embark on an adventure through 3000 years of history!

In 1883 a woman from the village of Għarb heard the voice of Our Lady at the small chapel that then occupied this site. It rapidly became a centre of pilgrimage and the number of visitors soon overwhelmed the little church. Today’s monumental shrine of Ta’ Pinu is an architectural masterpiece that attracts visitors from all over the world. Insider tipp: If you have some extra time, climb uphill along the via crucis walk which shows a series of 14 marble statues representing the stations of the cross. On the hilltop you can even find an amphitheater with a stone altar at the center and amazing sound quality. The walk uphill starts next to the parking area, opposite the Basilica.

These 350-year-old salt pans stretch about 3km along the coast and are more than just scenic. They are part of the centuries-old Gozitan tradition of Sea-Salt production that has been passed down within certain families for many generations. During the summer months, locals can still be seen scraping up the crystals of salt. The close by Xwejni Bay is an excellent spot for swimming or diving.

Marsalforn Bay is one of the most popular summer resorts in Gozo. With a good choice of diving spots, two shallow nearby beaches (Ix-Xwejni and Il-Qbajjar) and a wide range of restaurants, bars and hotels it is a magnet for locals and foreign visitors alike.

While most tourists come to Comino to see the Blue Lagoon, my favorite spot is Santa Marija Bay and the Santa Maria Caves on the north side of the island. If you do intend to see the Blue Lagoon, make sure that you take an early or late ferry to escape the tourist crowds that populate the island during the main hours of the day.

This is Gozo’s best sand beach. Ramla is a wonderful place to swim, snorkel and chill out in the sun. During high season (Juli to September) it might get a bit crowded.

The Inland Sea is a seawater lagoon that is linked to the Mediterranean Sea through a narrow natural archway. On calm days fishing boats take visitors through the archway and then for a tour of the nearby cliffs and other sites. The Inland Sea is also one of the most spectacular dive sites in Malta and Gozo, offering beautiful lighting effects and plenty of marine life.
