Casa do Rio Alva is a very special place with private access to the river! Our country house is located in the village of Secarias in the heart of the nature of central Portugal, 4 km from the village of Arganil and 55 km from the city of Coimbra. Exploring the Alva River from our home is a unique experience, where the following stand out: avocets, bees, kingfishers, crows, swallows, foxes, field mice, frogs, toads and snakes, numerous fish such as bass, bogas and carp, but also trout and eels.

3 deluxe guest rooms available in an intimate riverside guesthouse, all bedrooms with desk/sofa and a spacious en-suite including bathtub. All 3 rooms have access to a shared living room with fireplace, dining room and kitchen. Make the most of the peaceful setting by the river and enjoy the fabulous yoga space with scenic views of the valley. From the garden there are stairs to access a river beach, perfect for cooling off in the summer months! *Please note: we have a cat who lives here too.

We have two accommodations available, Poolside Rest and Secret Garden Retreat, each with bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. You can book either (or both if there are two couples in your group). The private pool is just a step away from both. A barbecue area is yours to enjoy and the seven acres of land can be explored. There are many activities to enjoy, depending on the season, from grape-picking in our vineyard, olive picking and generally exploring a beautiful part of central Portugal.
