Fowey is a must visit village. Steeped in history, Fowey has lots to see. There are plenty of places to eat - Sam's is first rate for seafood (you will probably need to book in peak season). A trip on the Bodinnick Ferry where you pass the Ferry House where Daphne Du Maurier was 'skulled' (rowing with one oar at the back of the boat) across to the church on her wedding day; is a fun thing to do. And a good loop if you are going to /coming from: Pencarrow Head/Palace or Lantivet beeches/Lerryn/Looe.

There is said to have been a ferry crossing the River Fowey at this spot since at least the 13th century. The ferry, which is motor-driven rather than chain-operated, links the small village of Bodinnick with Fowey and provides a valuable short-cut between coastal towns in this area. The white house next to the Ferry slip is the appropriately named Ferryside, which was once the home of Daphne du Maurier. It was here that she wrote "Rebecca" amongst many other novels.
