If you don't mind a lot of steps, a visit to Tolcarne beach is a great day or afternoon out. It's about 15 mins walk from us towards Newquay town centre. Look for the blue railings on your right opposite Premier Inn and there are steps down to the beach where you'll find a place for beach hire such as wetsuits and bodyboards. There is also a surf school on the beach for those wishing to learn! Pre-booking advised. At low tide the beach links up with Great Western and Lusty Glaze beaches. Please note the tide times if you go off exploring the caves! There is a large area of soft sand available at high tide on Tolcarne and also a cafe and restaurant.

Newquay's largest beach and popular with surfers and sand castle makers alike. Access to harbour at low tide and also to other beaches. Get yourself a surfing or paddle board lesson.

Tolcarne Beach joins up with its neighbouring beaches Great Western and Lusty Glaze (Privately owned beach closed at the moment) at low tide. The beach offers soft sand, easy swimming, fun family surfing, exciting rock pools to explore at low tide. Restaurant and cafe facilities. Surf Lessons all year round and Life guard cover during summer season.

Tolcarne is one of four beaches that meet at low tide to create Newquay's famed mile of golden sand. It's surrounded on three sides by tall cliffs, sandwiched between Great Western and Lusty Glaze. Great Western beach is accessible at low tide. At high, there's a steep flight of steps The beach shop has buckets, spades, wetsuits, boogie boards, sun cream, swim suits, and beach games for the perfect beach day. You can hire beach huts, windbreaks, loungers, surf & body boards, wetsuits & accessories there. The surf school offers individual and group lessons for beginners and intermediates. **MY TIPS: 1. You can walk across the beaches at the waterline with your dog year-round, but the beach itself allows dogs between April 30th - October 1st. 2. Lifeguard service during the summer months. 3. Check tide times before walking across the beaches - Available on your phone - Tide times available - on the "My Tide Times" app or online tidetimes(.org.)uk - please stay safe. 5. I love wild swimming on Towan, why not take a morning dip here too?
