On a perfect Spring or Summer day my idea of happiness is to go for a walk around Dam Flask and then drive up (or walk up, then it really feels earned!) to the Old Horns Inn at High Bradfield for a drink and something to eat looking out at THAT view, the stillness, the green, and then maybe wandering around the churchyard to see the sheep, or around the tiny village. It's a big pub and I would recommend going a bit earlier than your average punter to get the table you want, but we've never not been able to sit outside. There are a couple of little slides and a little climbing frame. The menu is very large/ambitious with a range of classic sort of pub grub and there's a kids' menu. A bit off the beaten track so in our experience you don't get the hordes of visitors you can see in other places.

This pub is famous for having the Tour De France go past it also has amazing views and extremely good value for food.

Again you will need to drive to this pub but worth it. Great pub grub and some excellent local beers from the Bradfield Brewery. The road over to Bradfield takes you over into the next valley with the dams and lovely forest and moors scenery before you arrive in Bradfield. Part of the drive over takes you along the 2015 Tour De France route.
