Learn about the Hawaiian astronomy world on the slopes of Mauna Kea. You will ascend to over 8,000 ft. on what is one of the world's tallest mountains (measured from the sea floor). Bring a jacket and some warm clothes as temperatures can reach freezing and the mountain snows in the winter months. You should check their website to verify the road is open as they sometimes close the road if weather is hazardous.

The Mauna Kea Visitor Information Station is at a comfortable altitude for most, and is very fun and informative for all! For healthy adults who want more adventure, check out the summit at sunrise.
Be on top of the world. Observatories with awesome views sunset and sunrise. Watch the stars like you never seen before. Be prepared for cold temp. Require 4WD off road vehicle. A Must see
The top of Maunakea has the most incredible views of stars, observatories, and awesome vistas of the entire island. At almost 14,000 feet it's recommended you acclimatize at the Visitor Center at 9,000 feet for 30 minutes before ascending to the top. Tours are available as 4 wheel drive is suggested to drive higher than the Visitor Center.
