Bertra Beach Drive: 20 minutes Pros: A lovely beach close to home! Great for walks (less than 1 hour) with amazing views across the bay and family swimming in the summer (life guard present). Cons: at high tide there is literally no beach left and you will have to walk in the dunes. It can be stony after storms; as Westport’s ‘house beach’ some parts will get busy during hot spells.

For a morning walk, 1.3 miles down the road. Walk there, bike there on the greenway.

This is a lovely beach with gorgeous views of Croagh Patrick. This beach was destroyed by a storm a few years ago, so it is a very stony beach as result and it is not the best for swimming in. Although the views are lovely.

This is a sand spit beach – a beach on both sides – with a view of clew bay, Clare Island and the reek )look closely and you can see the Church on top). The inland side of the beach is very shallow and good for kids. The sand-spit is a mile-long - walking over the sand dunes is great fun for kids. Right at the very end is a nice spot for a picnic. Do not be tempted to swim to the island in the very fast flowing current. The walk is over stones for about 100 yards on the middle.

Beautiful beach nestled at the foot of Croagh Patrick. Located just 15 minutes outside Westport.
