The stone arch Casselman River Bridge which served the National Road was completed in 1815. At that time, the river crossing was know as Little Crossings. During the French and Indian War, the river was forded on horseback. When commerce on the National Road began to boom, the briger was built. At 80-feet it was the longest single span stone arch bridge in the country.

The park is popular for fly-fishing, picnicking, and photography. The 80 foot span bridge was built in 1813-1814 as part of the National Road. Currently the bridge is open to pedestrians.

The Casselman River Bridge is pretty magical! If you park on the State Park side of the bridge and walk across the bridge, it takes you to the entrance of the Spruce Forest Artisan Village, which is AWESOME! (You can also park on the Spruce Village side) We went to see the bridge and found the Artisan Village by accident. So fun! Go for the day and eat at the Cornucopia Cafe. You won't be disappointed with this fun day trip.

It is a popular area for fly fishermen, photographers, and history enthusiasts. When the 80-foot span was erected in 1813, it was the longest single span stone arch bridge in the United States. Next to Penn Alps Artisan Village.
