Creswell Crags is an enclosed limestone gorge on the border between Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, near the villages of Creswell and Whitwell. The cliffs in the ravine contain several caves that were occupied during the last ice age, between around 43,000 and 10,000 years ago.
This ia a great place to visit, Its free to enter and has a picnic area a small play area for youngsters. The walk around the Craggs is a gentle walk. Theres a great coffee shop and an interesting Museum with artifacts dating back to the ice age.
This is an outdoor trip to a site 20 minutes drive from Cocking Hill House, with signs of some of the oldest human habitation, dating back to the end of the last ice age.
