The Daitokuji monastery 大徳寺 is one of the biggest 5th Zen monastery in Kyoto. In the Daitokuji we recommend visiting the Kotoin 高桐院 and the Daisen-in 大仙院, among other temples.

This is a historical place where great generals Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi engaged in tea ceremony practice, via Sen no Rikyuu, the legendary tea master. A historically romantic site!
